Yag Capsulotomy

Close up of man with clouded IOL which can be cleared with yag capsulotomy procedure

Yag Capsulotomy is a treatment used to improve vision after cataract surgery. A small number of patients who have cloudy vision after surgery will need this treatment. This cloudy or misty vision happens because the membrane around the eye can thicken at times. Symptoms of the thickening membrane are typically noticed years after surgery but can easily treated with the laser treatment. The laser creates a small hole in the center of the capsule that lets light in to the back of the eye. No preparations are necessary for treatment and patients are typically in and out the same day.
